Multiple myeloma cannot be cured with the current methods of treatment. The so-called allogenic bone marrow transplant, i.e. the transfer of healthy bone marrow from a suitable donor, is the only possibility of curing the disease in young patients. Generally, treatment in the case of multiple myeloma pursues the objective of at least delaying the disease's progress and extending the survival period while maintaining the best possible quality of life.
